RISK MANAGEMENT
All coaches, assistants, team managers, and any person
that has contact with the players are required to submit to a background
check through the MSYSA Risk Management Program. The MSYSA Risk
Management Program approval document must be on file with HASA before
any person comes in contact with the players - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Application for Risk Management certification, whether new or renewal,
is easily accomplished online. Click

COACHING LICENSES
It is strongly recommended that all coaches minimally
hold an 'E' license. Obtaining an 'E' license is now only a 16 hour
commitment. Clinics are generally held on one weekend (Saturday and
Sunday). While obtaining a 'D' license is a greater commitment (36 hours-
typically over two weekends), the benefits for those who want to coach older
players or at a higher level is immeasurable.
HASA licensing guidelines for head coaches are as follows:
For Select U12 to U14 teams, the head coach must minimally hold an 'E'
license. For Select U15 teams and above, the head coach must minimally hold
a 'D' license. For all Premier teams, the head coach must minimally hold a
'D' license. Remember, for coaches who commit to HASA for one year, the fee
for 'E' and 'D' licenses are covered by HASA upon successful completion of
the course. Click

TOURNAMENTS
Participating in a soccer tournament is a great way to
have fun, team build, and measure a team's progress. For those
teams with higher aspirations such as playing in the
Michigan State Premier League,
tournaments play a vital role in providing measurable results that a
team can use on the Premier League's application form.
Now is the time to be thinking about
participation in a Spring or early Summer soccer tournament. There
are numerous tournaments to choose from.
While Howell Area Soccer Association does
not presently endorse or sponsor any tournaments, some of the following
tournaments have been attended by HASA teams in the past. Click on
